for finitude music s 5th release, label owner marcel heese and alexander kowalski aka d_func. share their visions on thought control. both tracks on the ep harbour the same intent, but each of them approaches it in a different way. d_func. s take revolves around sahko-like bleeps, if you are into early mika vainio or sleeparchive, look no further! but instead of being loopy, it s definitely a builder. its original trance track-like structure is sure to rock many an underground dancefloor. marcel s vision is slower and less straight-forward but creates and maintains a high tension. based on dense a bassline and intricate soundscapes, it builds up slowly, only to explode halfway through. an extra payoff also comes at the very end of a track, its noise/ambient outro making a perfect way to wrap up an amazing party at 8am somewhere deep in the heart of berlin.

one year has passed since the pilotwings’ first output « agorespace ». expectations went further in 2015 as they contributed to the rave-ish j-zbel project. the pair is now back on bfdm with another ode to rurality and old-fashioned analogue. including 4 tracks, « molitor 71 » goes deeper into retrofuturist nostalgia and bucolic mood. a1 31 septembre (on va tout niker) introduces full-on panflute melodies and uplifting korg exotica. as the trancy chicago dream fades out, a2 les invasions babar unveils its weird combo of electro beats and massive patrick cowley-esque synths. unplanned bass moves lead this jam while an undertaking voice calls for no less than « the greatest experience of your life ». things settle down on the nocturnal b1 congo libre. focus on breakbeats and sophisticated rhythms evokes trance beats, while sparkling synths emerge from everywhere. the ep ends up with a floating ambient piece called buruganda ouverture and designed for the listener to rediscover the meaning of his existence. molitor will give you faith in humanity and flutes again.

we’re finishing 2015 with what is pretty much a mini lp by borrowed identity, an inspired producer based in freiburg. there’s a lot here and we think you should just listen to and enjoy the record, draw your own conclusions, but what we will say here is the a is ballsy house and the b is tough techno that touches on trance occasionally. get why it’s called the contrast?

it was in high school where music joined these two boys, exchanging deep techno and trance cassettes between classes. they grew and decided to study their passion, musical production. pablo & nani share the same style but each one does it differently in their own way, we could define it as deep tech-house. in this first ep they had clear ideas, they wanted to do a vinyl that could be played at the club, either in warm up and peak time, and they have done so. “the people we like” is the favorite of dactilar, modern deep house full of details with a clean groove. “for russia with love”, pablo’s favorite, classic deep techno in honor of all his russian followers. “krampf” is the bad guy of the movie, mental techno for long dj mixes, and “the hum”, dark and powerful from beginning to end. after so many years we are pleased to present pablo bolivar & dactilar together.

the first years, from his first album in 1976 to his 7th in the middle of the 80’s, were fuelled with an exemplary sense of creativity and a free-spirit vision. against everyones advice, cerrone was never reluctant to compose long and pure trance disco tracks, not exactly radio-friendly at the time, but which did incredibly well because they encapsulated the hedonism of the day and were far more than a trend. for instance, love in c minor and supernature have become unbeatable classics, featured regularly in the best pop, disco or dance selections, such a success would have burnt most of the others wings, whose career would have been ruined. at the beginning of the 80s, when he decided to unleash his creativity on stage, cerrone managed to rebound with you are the one studio album.

opener equilibrium two from buitendijk is a perfectly streamlined and serene bit of spaced out, hypnotic techno. gentle synth pulses roam about the airwaves, left and right, up and down, as ethereal pads glow behind. it s heady dancing music, whilst liem s contact is also perfectly aimed at both head and heel. it is full of lick synth pulses that bubble and boil as watery droplets and ticking hits also colour the most subliminal groove. closer this is all you need is a more textured, frazzled cut with frosty lines and rickety pads working you into a trance. rich drums and clever bass filtration add dynamics and tension and so like everything else here the end result is hugely captivating.

finefood records has done it again! this 100% swiss release is by the duo thomas t & anish and is their second on the up and coming label. this track blasts through the dance-osphere and boogies on through hypnotizing space, mastering the filter to produce a very cocooned trance. lulling the dance floor into dancing with them on the moon, enticing, deep yet always dangerous.

throwing rave parties since 2011, the bp collective has been founded with the objective of bringing a new breath to the french underground techno scene. in the bp tag und nacht” parties the visual universe tends to merge with the sound. each of the two stages has something different to tell: tag for the open air, nacht for the dark and smoky room. this project is based on the belief that the story told by sound depends on the visual atmosphere in which it is played. indeed this very first ep is built between those two atmospheres, the 4 tracks of the ep could be played in any of the two scenes tag or nacht with a totally different impact on the audience. on the tag stage, both of the tracks are colorful, atmospheric and dynamic whereas on the nacht stage, they become dark, trippy and powerful. this record is the first release of the two artists x1000 on the a side and vidock on the b side. both of them are part of the bp collective since the beginning, they draw their influences from the 90s detroit and belgium techno and trance scene. its difficult not to think about artists like the martian, model 500, robert leiner or the whole r&s label while listening to these 4 tracks.

yaleesa hall has released solo tracks and remixes on the will & ink label before now, and here returns with four new cuts on the perrin ep. the unknown producer turned plenty of heads with its first full outing, and the stripped back but succulent sounds on offer here will surely do the same again. rubber kicks rolling beneath little flecks of static and raw metal texture. wonky synth lines riding up and down. this is expertly hypnotic, over sized and cavernous techno that will suck you in, sweep you up and trap you in a perfect trance.

this 12inch is pure trance. who is/are rita furstenhof? we have no idea who she/he/they are. the a1 track, the mighty -hadron collider- was sent to optimo music hq about 18 months ago. normally sending one track is not much use to a label, but this was so good that we instantly replied to say we wanted to release it. rita furstenhof works in mysterious ways, and it was 18 months until the other tracks for the ep arrived. along the way there were a few times when we thought they had completely vanished, and we were never going to have a complete ep, but finally, here it is.

unless you have been sleeping it should be pretty obvious that wph head honcho red d has a weak spot for early belgian trance stuff. before trance was even known as trance that is… the early 90ies were the post new beat era in belgium and loads of producers were experimenting with new sounds to steer away from the blatantly commercial new beat chart stuff. so that is when the magic started happening.

italian born producer distant memories with a four track ep via london based label, wunderkammer recordings. the ep starts with degrado (a1) that belongs to a segment of works named originally “untono” because of the minimum employment of sound elements in the composition. few and simple sonorities to describe the disapproval on the current conditions of things. compulsive (a2) is a track with a more deep feeling that proceeds untill the end around a sharp kick and spectral and obscure sounds. it is crystal clear that this tune represents a compulsive behavior. while mentale (b1) has a good speed with a deep ambience. is a mental but natural progression of sounds that evolves maintaining an incessant and hypnotic journey with a classic refrain that characterized late ’90 trance records. a never-ending cycle minimalism aesthetics of the whole ep.

nach einem fulminanten debütalbum, das sowohl dancefloors der welt als auch kritiker außer atem ließ, kehrt jeremy guindo aka bambounou nun mit *centrum* in albumlänge zurück. guindo benutzt verspielte electro-synths (echter electro, siehe detroit), die den hörer in einen trance-zustand versetzen, der durch die peitschenden percussions von tracks wie *each other* gestört wird. im gegensatz zu *orbiting* bewegt sich *centrum* eher weg von bass und footwork und hin zu ambient und techno. *centrum* ist keine reine clubplatte, die von vorn bis hinten mit brettern vollgestopft ist (obwohl fähige djs trotzdem viel stoff finden werden), dennoch werden auch die *orbiting* fans wieder begeistert sein. das doppel-vinyl erscheint im klappcover, inklusive poster und downloadcode.

entitled narita, the release is inspired by, and dedicated to, japan, and the tracks are a collage of all the experiences and emotions the producer has picked up there whilst on his travels. this release was also due to be the 44th on the label (which has now made it up to number 67) and so has clearly been cooking for a long time. once again it proves the man behind it to be focused on stripped back and hypnotic grooves, shadowy textures and subliminal synths that are abstract and truly heady. up first, sleepless is a spooky and hypnotic techno roller with icy pads and rubber drums that roll on like a haunted midnight train burrowning deep into your brain. ebisu is even more reserved, with just a light, skipping kick and tinkling, glassy keys suspending you in a wide open space of abstract atmospheric soun d. on th e flip side, mountain splitter is more urgent and immediate, with nervy pads this time racing alongside woodpecker precision and supple drums. it s heady stuff that really distracts you from the world before finally trance is a wash of grainy white noise and groaning synths that soundtrack a word deep down in the depths of the ocean. svreca is a master of getting deep inside both body and brain and does so in different but captivating ways with all four of these cuts.

heavy release from newcomer therarelowry on the soft rocks kinfolk imprint. nightshift is a meandering acid tinged trance-dancer with a nord-esque bassline under pinning it. the morning after goes on a heavier route but the mournful strings keep it on the light side of the dark with great intensity. on the flip side soft rocks take the nightshift into their specially designed acid fuzz room to deliver a pounding percussion filled remix....all trax are receiving support from the alfos duo of andrew weatherall and sean johnston.

with this first ep, s.o.n.s pays homage to the early age of electronic dance music, when techno, house and trance were friendly to each other, when tracks were full of deepness and harmonics, when drums were crazy and raw, when techno was soulful. yeah, this is all about this ep, some soulful deep techno excursions. while the a1 is an after-hours emotional weapon freely inspired by an obscure m. goddard production some will recognize, the a2 is a more straight forward electro track with dark vocals and rising chords, as they made it in detroit back in the days. on the other side of the record is a techno journey through a rainforest with pan flute, deep chords and old school bassline. plus there is a little bonus locked groove: a mere 4/4 tr909 bass drum s.o.n.s personally uses in their crazy obscure techno mixes. turquoise vinyl + foil sticker on cover, limited to 200 copies. mastered by matt colton (l.i.e.s, apron…)

it was the light. that was it. she was trying to remember what brought her to this desolate, godforsaken place. the way the moon and the stars made the shadows dance, it was magic. she slipped into a trance just thinking about it, forgetting at once the decay and the damned all around her. the shadows had fallen still long ago. then the darkness poured in. it had filled her. swallowed her whole. how long had it been now? she couldnt remember. the paper of her hands, the dust in her mouth, she barely noticed. far from any road there was a massive building with a lot of concrete rooms. inside it, a labyrinth path to bid farewell.
